Assist Travel And Transport

Safe and Accessible Travel with ACAC Family

At ACAC Family, we are committed to ensuring safe, accessible, and independent travel for people with disabilities—no matter the mode of transport.

Our transport services help individuals engage more in community, social, economic, and everyday activities by making it easier to get from one place to another while achieving personal goals and completing essential tasks.

The NDIS offers four main ways to fund your travel and transport needs:

Transport budget

This covers access to taxis, rideshares, community transport, registered transport providers, and other suitable options. The NDIA provides this funding if you cannot use public transport (like buses or trains) without significant difficulty due to your disability and if it supports better community access. Funds are paid directly into your nominated bank account on a fortnightly basis. This funding is part of your Core Supports (Transport Allowance) in your NDIS Plan.

Annual transport budget

The amount you receive depends on the level of support you require for transport and how often you need to access the community. To reflect this, the NDIA has developed three participant support levels.

Capacity-Building for Independent Travel
Increasing independence is one of the key goals of the NDIS, and at ACAC Family, we share that vision. The NDIA may fund supports under Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living) to help you travel more independently.
We can help you overcome barriers and build your capacity to travel by:
Specialised Transport
If required, the NDIS may also fund vehicle modifications where they are considered reasonable and necessary to meet your needs and help achieve your goals. This could include modifications or equipment to access or, in some cases, operate a vehicle. The NDIA will assess whether modifications are value for money or whether a more cost-effective solution is available. Approved funding is provided under Assistive Technology in your NDIS plan.
