Innovative Community Participation Program
ACAC Family’s Innovative Community Participation Program is designed to support NDIS participants in building the skills and confidence needed to actively engage in their community. Through side-by-side practice, our skilled Community Engagement Practitioners help participants expand their opportunities for community involvement and pathways to employment.
Using a capacity-building, community-based approach, our practitioners work with participants in their own local environments. This increases the likelihood of long-term success, empowering participants to transition toward informal supports and sustainable employment opportunities.
Our program focuses on resilience, wellbeing, and personal growth, while tailoring each service to the participant’s individual goals. This ensures every participant gets the most out of the program and is supported in achieving meaningful outcomes.
Our supports include:
- Understanding the importance of community engagement, social contribution, and relationships for overall wellbeing
- Developing self-awareness and self-care strategies
- Exploring personal interests, skills, and passions, and linking these to employment opportunities
- Building emotional awareness and self-regulation
- Strengthening social skills and understanding social norms and expectations
- Building confidence, independence, and self-worth in relation to disability
- Navigating systems and programs to successfully engage in community life and employment pathways
- Preparing for and accessing training and employment opportunities
- Developing capacity to seek assistance in community settings without relying on ongoing formal supports
